Southern Cooking brings soul to food

From as far back as I can remember I remember long summer afternoons spent drinking iced tea even now I enjoy a deep abiding love for southern cooking, one thing that can be said is that you will never find anything else like it on this earth, People from the south learned to do with little in most instances, some of the poorest people in America live or came from the south or southern parts of the country, you will find some of the most generous people, despite poverty, It seems to be in ample supply in most southern homes, very few would turn you away with an empty stomach, maybe it is the seasonings often used when cooking southern food, from the crab boil and gumbo file of cuisine to the secret ingredients that just about every southern kitchen contained for their fried chicken recipes , we all know no one on earth can fry chicken like a born and bred southern grandma, Perhaps maybe it is the Sunday Church dinners where everybody shares a little of what they have with others , the love that goes into preparing these meals that are shared with family and friends, What ever the case may be if you ever have the occasion to experience real southern cooking, do not pass it up, their is so many dishes main coarse as well as the side dishes like butterbeans, snap beans, corn, summer squash, greens is my favorite, okra, peas , cabbage, I can go on and on, be it boiled or fried vegetables, I really love fried green tomatoes, life was good back then you did not have to worry about clogging your arteries, or counting calories, you may not want it to be a daily dish, but I would say I do myself indulge in southern cooking quit a bit, I try not to as much as I would like to , now I do not eat pork but maybe once or twice a year maybe. If you are trying to learn some of the southern cooking and cuisine you will most likely need to order your spices and have them shipped not in less your grocery store has a rather extensive "exotic foods selection, You can sometimes find great southern seasonings on the International food aisles in the grocery store, If you really want to treat your family to an outstanding meal, you should really try southern cooking for the night.
